Noubar Afeyan is an American-Armenian entrepreneur, inventor, academic, and philanthropist, born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1962.
Afeyan has patented over 100 inventions. He is the founder and co-founder of 80 cutting-edge companies and successful startups, of which the most renowned, Moderna, focuses on developing mRNA vaccine technology. He is a senior lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management.
As a philanthropist, Afeyan has co-founded and took part in dozens of NPOs such as the IdEA foundation, Aurora Prize, FAST, UWC and The Future Armenian. Afeyan has been conferred with an honorary doctorate degree from several universities, such as Boston University, McGill, and Yerevan State Universities.
