Profile

Berge Setrakian is an American-Armenian lawyer, philanthropist, and the current president of AGBU, born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1949. He earned a Master’s Degree in French Law and another in Comparative Law from Saint-Joseph University while practicing as a lawyer in Beirut. Subsequently, he joined the Whitman & Ransom law firm in New York in 1976. Between 1997 and 2000, Setrakian served as the Chairman of Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan. After holding various leadership positions within AGBU, one of the largest and influential Armenian organizations globally, he assumed the role of president in 2002.

Setrakian’s dedicated efforts were recognized with an Ellis Island Medal of Honor, acknowledging his significant contributions on behalf of the Armenian-American community in the United States.

He currently resides in New Jersey and is married to Vera Nazarian and has two daughters, Ani and Lara.
