The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced nominations for the 2022 Academy Awards.
It is much pleasing to see Armenians played an integral role in 27 of the 53 nominated films.
The highlights include producer Tanya Seghatchian and executive Narbeh Mirzakhanian. Tanya Seghatchian became the first Armenian woman to be nominated for Best Picture with THE POWER OF THE DOG, which many consider the frontrunner to win. If the film does win, she would be the first Armenian to win the top prize at the Oscars. Narbeh Mirzakhanian distributed four films that landed nominations, including LICORICE PIZZA, which is nominated for Best Picture, as well as NO TIME TO DIE, HOUSE OF GUCCI, and CYRANO.
