“Astghavard” NGO was established in 2003 and operates in 35 communities of the city of Vardenis. The mission of the NGO is to help solve the problems of children with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. The center provides rehabilitation services by a multidisciplinary team. In addition to working with children, services are also provided to people with mental retardation 18+, providing them with day-to-day recreational and occupational engagements.
From the very beginning of the 44-day Artsakh (Karabagh) war, the Center provided various services to the displaced families: social, psychological, humanitarian, etc.
Over the past year, 74 people with disabilities have received rehabilitation services, 80 local families and 120 displaced families from Artsakh have been involved in various programs.
Recently, within the frames of EU COVID-19 Solidarity Programme For Eastern Partnership project, a 2-day course was held for about 50 people with disabilities and their guardians, where they were informed about their rights and cooperation with employers, which will help them overcome problems and be competitive in the labor market.
