As a result of the February earthquakes chain and aftershocks that struck the region of the Gulf of Alexandretta, a number of cities and villages were destroyed in Turkey, buildings and structures were razed to the ground, and tens of thousands of people lost their lives. However, surprisingly, no destruction has been recorded in Vakif village, the only Armenian village in Turkey that survived the Ottoman Empire. Local Armenian residents testified that no buildings or structures were damaged, and no human casualties were recorded.
