An independent academic platform named “Monument Watch” has been established to record and present the condition and changes of Artsakh Cultural Heritage within the limits of professional knowledge and academic education. The platform is engaged in mapping and inventory of the immovable cultural heritage, churches, monuments, museums, cultural centers along the Artsakh-Azerbaijani border zone as well as within the territories of the Artsakh Republic, that went under the control of Azerbaijan as a result of the 44 day war. It will monitor the current state and provide alerts on destruction, alteration, reuse, deletion and modification of sculptures, images, inscriptions, use of new symbols, etc. Monument Watch has recorded 1785 historical places, 120 of which are under active control. One can take a part in the project by donating, supporting or becoming a volunteer.
