2021 World Press Freedom Index Released

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has released its annual ranking of countries on press freedom for the year 2021. The annual index, which evaluates the press freedom situation in 180 countries and territories, this year shows that journalism is “totally blocked or seriously impeded” in 73 countries worldwide and “constrained” in 59 others – together representing 73% of those evaluated. Norway is ranked first in the index for the fifth year running. Neighboring Georgia ranks at 60 in the list, followed by Armenia at 63. Far behind lie Turkey and Azerbaijan who rank at 153 and 167 respectively.
