Garik Karapetyan, who is still 16 for another month, was able to edge out his Russian counterpart, Artur Babayan, who is 18 years old, by one kilogram to achieve the gold medal for Armenia on the 8th day of the International Weightlifting Federation Junior Championships which took place in Uzbekistan. Meanwhile, on the women’s front, Liana Gyurjyan, 19, was able to lift one kilogram more than her Turkish counterpart Ucan Dilara to also take home the gold medal.
