Armenian writer and public figure Toros Toranian dies at 93

Toros Toranian was born in Aleppo in 1928. His father had a strong command of the Armenian language whereas his mother, who had grown up in a Kurdish family, didn’t speak Armenian. Mr. Toros’ father died while he was still 2 years old and as such, his house was now a Turkish speaking household. When Mr. Toros reached the age of 5, he began learning Armenian in kindergarten. Mr. Toros eventually attended Gulbenkian Armenian School in Aleppo and received a medical education. He wrote in many different genres and is known for his works such as “The Road to the Stars”, “Green Letters”, etc. He died at the age of 93 in 2021.
