By the order of Vladimir Putin, Bagrat Alekyan was awarded the Alexander Nevsky Order for his contribution to the fight against coronavirus infection.Alekyan is the Chief Specialist of the Russian Ministry of Health for Endovascular Diagnosis and Treatment. He holds many responsible positions in the Russian healthcare system. Since 1992 he is the head of the department of X-ray examination of blood vessels, and since 1999 he is the head of the department of endovascular surgeons of the Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons of the Russian Federation.In addition, Alekyan is an academician at the Russian Academy of Sciences, foreign member of the RA National Academy of Sciences and a cardiologist-surgeon, etc.Bagrat Alekyan is also the Chairman of the Commission for Intravascular Surgery of the Presidency of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.He is also author of more than 700 scientific works, including 11 monographs.Alekyan’s works are related to the issues of intravascular diagnosis and treatment of the heart and blood vessels. In 2015, Bagrat Alekyan was awarded the Russian Government Prize in Science and Technology for his scientific work and application.
