During the Artsakh war in the fall of 2020, residents of Armenia and the Diaspora as well as foreigners donated money and other items to help those on the front lines, those affected by the war, and the displaced. The big wave of aid was an opportunity for some groups engaged in fraudulent activity to organize fake fundraisers and misappropriate public funds. Fake websites appeared resembling the Hayastan All Armenian Fund, Fundraisers on behalf of soldiers’ parents, Fundraisers for soldiers’ medical treatment, etc. As of March 2nd of this year, the police have investigated 15 cases.
