Armenia is banning plastic bags from 2022 in order to lower environmental pollution. The ban is expected to cut 12 tons of plastic bag circulation annually. This decision comes because Armenia’s riverbeds are full of plastic, Lusine Avetisyan, the Director for Strategic Policy at the Ministry of Environment reportsBusinesses had 2-3 years to reorganize their production and find alternative solutions before the law was adopted, and companies have been presenting alternatives to plastic bags, with both single use biodegradable bags being suggested as well as reusable ones.The plastic bag ban is part of a wider project and soon other plastic products will also be addressed.
