In the historical Armenian province of Erznka (Erzinjan, Western Armenia), in the village of Uchpynar, there is this beautiful monastery of St. David, better known as “Abrenk Vank” (Abrenk Monastery).
Although the monastery has undergone numerous destruction, however, the church, chapel and the khachkars, which are the biggest in the region, have survived.
These kachkars, 4 meters long and 1 meter wide, have numerous inscriptions in Armenian, and also indicate two dates – 1191 and 1194.
In the 19th century, St. Monastery David served as the spiritual center of the Armenians of the province.
