My Genocide 2.0 – Artsakh Ethnic Cleansing Has Been Nominated For an Emmy

The documentary Genocide 2.0: Artsakh Ethnic Cleansing brings to light Azerbaijan’s ongoing campaign to eliminate Armenian heritage from Artsakh. In 2024, for the first time in 1,700 years, Easter was not celebrated in Artsakh—a stark symbol of the forced displacement of over 120,000 Armenians from their ancestral land. This film, part of the Faces of Persecution docuseries, provides clear and compelling evidence of Azerbaijan’s actions, including the targeting, imprisonment, and torture of Armenian leaders. The documentary aims to raise international awareness and push for accountability.

The Faces of Persecution series was launched to connect the Artsakh crisis with similar human rights issues around the world, such as the Yazidi genocide and violence in Kaduna, Nigeria. Through these comparisons, the project seeks to inspire a united global response. Directed by the multi-Emmy-winning filmmaker Bared Maronian, Genocide 2.0 reflects the dedication of a skilled team committed to justice.

The series’ inaugural film, 10 Years On, explores the tragic fate of the Yazidis under ISIS, while highlighting Armenia’s role as a sanctuary of religious harmony, home to the world’s largest Yazidi temple. This perspective underscores Armenia’s dedication to minority rights and interfaith understanding. Distributed globally by JAVA Films through major networks like DW (Deutsche Welle) and RTVE, 10 Years On will reach millions, underscoring the impact of the Faces of Persecution series.

The short 7 minute version of Genocide 2.0 has already been nominated by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for its 2024 Suncoast Regional Emmy® Awards in the Religion, Short Form Content category.
