COAF’s mission to address the enduring problem of rural negligence has its roots in Armenia’s Armavir region. Witnessing the poor conditions in Karakert, a village in Armavir, prompted the founding of COAF in 2003 by American-Armenian businessman Garo Armen.
Within 18 years, innovative programs and infrastructure projects of COAF have changed the lives of over 107,000 people across 64 villages in 6 provinces of Armenia, with an overall investment of $50 million.
On September 10, 2021 COAF opened the groundbreaking Child and Family Services Center (CFSC) in Hatsik village. In taking this step, COAF insists on making social and psychological support as well as preschool education an integral part of rural life.
Another highlight on the horizon for Armavir is the revitalization of Getashen School’s gym. On October 8, COAF finished the large-scale renovation of the only gym in Armavir.
While the new sports hall will elevate the quality of COAF’s Basketball program and the physical education in Getashen, the launch of SMART Citizen App will increase the efficiency and accessibility of COAF’s Education programs across Armavir and other beneficiary regions through automated performance monitoring, simplified communication, and interactive learning modalities.
