Armenian Film Society to present “Three Weeks in Yerevan” at American Cinematheque

Armenian Film Society will be hosting a screening of “Three Weeks in Yerevan” at the Los Feliz 3, with American Cinematheque on April 8, followed by a Q&A with Vahé Berberian and Vahik Pirhamzei, moderated by Armen Karaoghlanian.
“Three Weeks in Yerevan” is a 2016 comedy about two filmmakers, Armen (Vahik Pirhamzei) and Raffi (Vahé Berberian), who go to Yerevan to shoot a feature film about a third-generation American-Armenian who goes to Yerevan to adopt a 12-year-old. The duo teams up with a local impresario Rubo (Hrant Tokhatyan), as they begin the arduous task of casting for the parts, scouting locations, and securing the last leg of the funding. This seemingly perfect plan becomes a perfect storm of absurd meetings, unexpected discoveries, and hysterical events, which come together to sabotage the project.
The film is screening as part of American Cinematheque’s “Watch Local: Sister Cities” series, which will include films such as “Taipei Story” (Taiwan), “Salaam Bombay!” (India), and “Rudo y Cursi” (Mexico).
Armenian Film Society has collaborated with the American Cinematheque several times in the past, co-presenting a screening of Atom Egoyan’s “The Sweet Hereafter” as part of their “Bleak Week: Cinema of Despair” series, and co-presenting a virtual Q&A with Atom Egoyan during an online screening of “Guest of Honour” in 2020.
