Armenian investors notified Azerbaijan, demanding reimbursement for the hydropower plants in occupied Artsakh

19 Armenian private investors from the small hydroelectric power plant industry have requested reimbursement from Azerbaijan for millions of dollars in investments.
The Armenian investors will appeal to the International Arbitration Court if Baku does not respond to their request. Represented by the international law firm, “Willkie Farr & Gallagher”, and the Armenian Consulting Company, “David & Partners”, founded by former Justice Minister David Harutyunyan, the investors will be appealing using the International Energy Charter Treaty to support their claims.
The hydroelectric power plants were built in Karvachar, Berdzor and other districts of Artsakh, which Azerbaijan has occupied since the 2020 Artsakh War.
This is the first known lawsuit against Azerbaijan by those who had investments in Artsakh since the 2020 Artsakh War.
