Armenian Museum to be Re-established in Tabriz, Iran

The fifth most populous city of Iran, Tabriz, located in Iran’s northwestern province of East Atrpatakan, will become the host of the newly re-established Armenian museum.

During a meeting with the Head of the Armenian Diocese of Atrpatakan Grigor Chiftchian, the head of the provincial chapter of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Department Ahmad Hamzaehzadeh highlighted that the preservation of historical Armenian monuments is among the department’s most significant responsibilities.

Hamzaehzadeh asserted that the General Directorate for restoration, protection and maintenance took special measures to ensure the safeguard of numerous Armenian monuments in the province, including the re-establishment of the Armenian Museum in Tabriz is on the agenda.

He added that the province hosts invaluable Armenian monuments such as Saint Stepanos Monastery, part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.
