2022 Aurora Humanitarians Announced in Yerevan

Yesterday, the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative announced the names of the 2022 Aurora Humanitarians, chosen for their impact, courage and commitment in putting themselves at risk to help others, at the national repository of ancient manuscripts located in Yerevan, Armenia….

The award, in the amount of $1,000,000, is given on behalf of the survivors of the Armenian Genocide in gratitude to their rescuers for standing up to humanitarian challenges around the world. One of the humanitarians will subsequently be named the 2022 Aurora Award Laureate.

The Humanitarians of 2022:

Jamila Afghani (Afghanistan) an activist for peace and founder of the Noor Educational and Capacity Development Organization (NECDO) to give women in Afghanistan access to education.
Hadi Jumaan (Yemen) is an activist for peace, mediator and collector of corpses from Yemen who tries to facilitate the exchange of prisoners of war and recover human remains from the frontlines.
Mahienour El-Massry (Egypt) is an Egyptian lawyer and political activist who promotes political freedoms and human rights in Egypt by organizing peaceful protests.
